The Life is good Festival will be at Prowse Farm in Canton on September 21st & 22nd! Thislife is good two day festival will feature music, food, vendors and games!

This year’s three-stage festival will include performances from Daryl Hall & John Oates, The Roots, Jack Johnson, and Delta Rae. There will even be a children's area that will have performances from Yo Gabba Gabba!, Recess Monkey and Josh & the Jamtones! 

"In addition to the musical performances, the festival will also offer a wide array of games and activities as well as diverse local food, hands-on art projects, and a variety show featuring Rob Surette’s Amazing Hero Art, a BMX stunt show, and a performance by juggler and comedian Peter Panic. There will also be a special 'Chillville' area set aside for families, complete with 'comfy seating, blankets for relaxation, a mellow vibe, and easy-going activities' such as kids’ yoga, storytelling, magic tricks, and a nature show presented by the Trailside Museum.

All proceeds from the festival will go to support the Life is good Kids Foundation. Tickets are available through the Life is good website.

4th Annual Somerville Dog Festival!

The Somerville Foundation for Animals will be having their 4th Annual Somerville Dog Festival on Sunday, September 15th from 10:00am-3:00pm.

The festival will be held at Trum Field on Broadway.  Food for the event will be provided by RedBones BBQ.  This is a free event and donations are greatly appreciated.

"The fundraiser to benefit local animal-related charities will feature a variety of exciting dog sports demonstrations and multiple 'try it' rings in which the public can try sports and games with their dogs."

Rumble on the River in Brighton

rumbleCheck out the 4th Annual Rumble on the River in Brighton! The event will be on Sunday, September 15th from 12:00pm-6:30pm. 

The Rumble on the River  "combines a 2.25 mile head-style race on the Charles River with a 300m sprint race for top finishers in the head race segment." 

The event is free and in addition to the races, will provide live music and a 21+ beer garden! This year, the bands include Dub Apocalypse with Toussaint the Liberator, Van Gordon Martin Band, Banana Phonetic, Jamie Kent and the Options, skunkmello, and DJ Ryan Brown! 

Although the event is free, donations are highly appreciated. "All donations will help raise funds for Community Rowing's outreach initiatives, which include rowing for military veterans and athletes with special needs, and Let's Row Boston, a program which gives more than 1,000 children from Boston Public Schools the opportunity to row."

Watch a Free Screening of The Great Gatsby

On Thursday, September 12th, there will be a free screening of The Great Gatsby at theBack Bay Night Out Prudential Center. The movie will start at sundown on the South Garden. 

"In partnership with the Back Bay Association and BostonMagazine, The Shops at Prudential Center will be participating in the first ever Back Bay Night Out, an event celebrating food, fashion and lifestyle in the Back Bay neighborhood. This neighborhood-wide celebration of the Back Bay business community will feature a variety of in-store sales and special events throughout the Back Bay and at Prudential Center. "

The Friday Night VIP Reception will be from 5pm-10pm. The VIP session includes 4 (16 lb) beers, a keepsake stein, live traditional German bands, games & stein hosting competitions and giveaways! There will be over 15 types of Sam Adams styles available, including the new limited edition releases.

MixFest 2013!

MixFestMix 104.1's MixFest is back! On Saturday, September 14th, the MixFest concert will be at the DCR Memorial Hatch Shell on the Esplanade.

This year, MixFest will be headlining Of Monsters and Men and will also have performances by Backstreet Boys and Gavin DeGraw

"In addition to this year's impressive roster of acts, the event will feature a special performance by the winner of MIX 104.1's 15 Seconds of Fame contest.  The lucky local act will be selected out of a pool of applicants who have submitted videos of their performances on MIX 104.1's 15 Seconds of Fame contest page for the coveted chance to take the stage at this year's big show."

The gates open at 1:00pm with the concert starting at 4:00pm. The concert is free and open to all ages!

"Culture Tap is a pair of interactive kiosks that celebrate the South End’s culture and history, activated by a Charlie Card (no charge required). Created by Dan Sternof Beyer and Bevan Weissman, members of the artist collective New American Public Art, the kiosks integrate audio clips of oral tradition, data collection and environmental lighting for a holistic approach to placemaking, quantitative metrics and local Boston pride. Since each Charlie Card has a unique RFID number (radio-frequency identification), different cards play different stories and activate different lighting combinations at each kiosk. "

The kiosks will be displayed at the Boston Center for the Arts in the South End until October 18th.

Cambridge CarnivalOn Sunday, September 8th, Cambridge will be celebrating their Cambridge Carnival International near Central & Kendall Square!

"Cambridge Carnival International is a colorful city-wide festive celebration that is rooted in African traditions." There are thousands of spectators that come and enjoy the carnival's parade, music and ethnic food!

The Cambridge Carnival International starts of with their famous costume parade at 12:30pm. The parade features steel bands and a customer competition. The carnival continues with various musical and dance performances. KidsFest will also be going on all day and will entertain children with face painting, arts and crafts and OPENAIR Circus.

JP Music Festival

On Saturday, September 7th, Jamaica Plain will have its first JP Music Festival. The festival will be in Pinebank Field and will run from 12pm-7pm. 

The premise of the performing bands is that at least one member of the band has to either live and/or work in Jamaica Plain. There will be two stages and over 20 musical performances! 

"In addition, the kid/dog/bike-friendly fest features family activities, food trucks and carts, shade and water for dogs, and bike racks. Among the artists in this year's JP Music Festival line-up are Lowman (fronted by Greg Loughman), the Afro D All Starz, Merrie Amsterburg, Rick Berlin with the Nickel and Dime Band, Coyote Kolb, Allison Francis, The Grownup Noise, Lars Vegas, The Macrotones, and What Time Is It Mr. Fox?"

Free Pinkberry!

The Pinkberry craze is taking over Boston! Pinkberry will be coming to Somervillepinkberry and will be offering free frozen yogurt during their grand opening! 

The grand opening event will be on Thursday, September 5th from 5:30pm-8:30pm. The event will include free frozen yogurt, giveaways, live DJ and a presentation of a donation check to the Somerville Homeless Coalition

The Davis Square location is partnering with the Somerville Homeless Coalition during the opening and hosting events for the non-profit throughout the year. "The organization offers supportive services and tailored housing solutions to homeless and near-homeless persons with the goal of finding and maintaining affordable housing. "

Regular hours of operation will start on Friday, September 6th.
