Bracelet Making Class at Abeille

Abeille in Brookline is having their Girls Night Out-Bracelet Making Class on Thursday, July 25th at 5:30pm. Tickets are $10 and fee includes instructions and use of tools. Beads are an additional fee and start at $3/bead.

The staff will be on hand to demonstrate techniques and share tips and ideas. There is no limit to the amount of bracelets a participant can make during this class.  The class will last approximately two hours and is known to be a beginners class. Feel free to come by yourself or bring a few friends! 

"You will have the opportunity to make one (or as many bracelets as you choose!) in a comfortable atmosphere, while sipping a glass of wine or your favorite beverage. Bring along a friend or make some new ones. Don’t be shy!"

Magic 106.7 presents Free Films at Prudential Center!

madagascarMagic 106.7 is currently sponsoring free films at the Prudential Center this summer! Magic 106.7's Free Films are showing Saturday nights in the Prudential Center's South Garden.  All films start at sundown and rain dates are scheduled for the following Wednesday.

Arrested Development Night for Geeks Who Drink

arrestedOn July 20th, Common Ground in Allston will be presenting a special game of Geeks Who Drink. The No Touching! Arrested Development trivia night is a special tribute to the fourth season of Arrested Development that was recently released on Netflix. 

Geeks Who Drink is a modern pub trivia game that is taking the nation by storm. It covers topics from history to tv shows to sports. There are also "Name that Tune" rounds that challenge your music skills. 

Teams are limited to six players and there is an admission fee of $5/person.  The Arrested Development night will have, not only questions from season four, but from the first three seasons as well so come prepared. 

The game starts at 5pm. Space is limited so make sure you get there early!

The Highland Street Foundation Free Fun Fridays!

Free Fun FridaysThe Highland Street Foundation will be working with multiple museums and cultural venues to celebrate their 5th Annual Free Fun Fridays! The program this year has over 60 museums and venues and is free to the public. 

Some events, such as the Reagle Music Theatre and Boston Harbor Alliance, do require tickets. Participants can check out the organization's websites for further details. Some museums and organizations include the Museum of Fine Arts, Freedom Trail Foundation, Boston Harbor Island Alliance and The Discovery Museums

This Friday, participating organizations include The JFK Library & Museum, Reagle Music Theatre, Buttonwood Park Zoo, Danforth Art, Hancock Shaker Village and the Garden in the Woods.

"'This is our biggest and best Free Fun Fridays program,' said Highland Street Foundation Executive Director Blake Jordan. 'Free Fun Fridays shines a spotlight on the broad and diverse art and cultural offerings across Massachusetts. Whether you live in Boston or the Berkshires, Worcester or Cape Cod, the North Shore or the South Coast, you can take advantage of this free program.'

The Highland Street Foundation provides grants to participating venues to cover the cost of opening their doors for free. The Highland Street Foundation has invested $650,000 to support the Free Fun Fridays program this year. "

15th Annual Lantern Festival

lantern festivalThe Forest Hills Educational Trust will be having their 15th Annual Lantern Festival. The Annual Lantern Festival will be held on Thursday, July 18th at the Forest Hills Cemetery from 6pm-9pm.

"A much-loved community event for Jamaica Plain, as well as Greater Boston, the Lantern Festival draws its inspiration from the Japanese Bon Festival -- a celebration each year when a door opens to the world of their ancestors allowing loved ones to send messages to the other side. Free Hood Ice Cream at City Hall Plaza

ice creamNeed a break from the heat? If you're heading to City Hall, make sure you keep your eye out for the bow-tied pedicab Hood Ice Cream drivers. The representatives will be handing out samples of their latest confection, the Hood Harvey Bar

The drivers will distribute three flavors of the Harvey Bar, each coated in chocolate: vanilla, vanilla crisp, and cookies ’n’ cream. The new bar, introduced this spring, is named in tribute to HP Hood founder Harvey Perley Hood.

"This three-day event, which will also include the distribution of Hood coupons, marks the official public launch of the Harvey Bar, Hood said.

Outside the Box Festival

outside the boxOutside the Box is currently taking place in Boston! The festival runs til the July 21, 2013 and features a week of free music, dance and theater performances! 

Some of the theater performances have two-three shows but the musical acts are scheduled to have one performance. The Outside The Box website has a schedule of the performances and demonstrations. Performances vary from The Boston Children's Chorus to Mighty Mighty Bosstones!

This is a family friendly event located in the Boston Common. There are multiple stages set up with various performances throughout the day. There is even a children's area with acts and various actives, including magicians and jump rope!

And don't forget the Fork Lift Food Festival that will be scheduled from July 18th-21st!

Revere Beach's Sand Sculpting Festival is Back!

stogSince 2004, the Revere Beach National Sand Sculpting Festival attracted famous sculptors from all over the world and hundreds of spectators. This year’s tournament will take place from Friday July 19th to Sunday July 21st 2013. Alongside the competition, there will be food trucks, live entertainment, exhibit booths and children's sand sculpting lessons! 

The event starts at 10:00am on Friday with the closing ceremony at 6:00pm on Sunday. On Saturday, the award ceremony will be held at 6:00pm with fireworks at 9:00pm! 

The event will be near the bandstand on Revere Beach Boulevard (between Beach Street and Shirley Avenue). The closest MBTA stop is Revere Beach Station on the Blue Line, which is located only one block away from the festival. Free parking is available along Ocean Avenue and Revere Beach Boulevard (review signs for time limits), as well as parking lots (fee) near Wonderland MBTA Station.

Boston Fork Lift Food Fest

sewallThe Boston Fork Lift Food Fest is part of the Outside the Box Festival that will be going on in Boston from July 13-21st. The Fork Lift Food Fest will be taking place from July 18-21 at City Hall Plaza.

The event will be going on from 12pm-5pm and will showcase amazing tastings, demonstrations and book signings from Boston's greatest chefs including Gordon Hamersley, Todd English and Jeremy Sewall

Along with these activities will be the Beer & Wine Emporium to complement the tastings (for ages 21+ only) and live entertainment. 

Admission to the Fork Lift Food Fest, like Outside The Box, is FREE! Tasting tickets will be sold for the restaurant tasting stations. Tickets will also be available at the festival via numerous kiosks in City Hall Plaza. Check out the Fork Lift Festival link for further details!

Faneuil Hall Marketplace Launches Summer Blink!

Faneuil Hall Marketplace in partner with Mohegan Sun and 105.7 WROR announced the launch of Summer Blink!, "a free, state-of-the-art light and sound extravaganza featuring  the song, 'Dirty Water,' by The Standells. The show launches Monday, July 15th at 8p.m. and will play nightly through Labor Day Weekend. "

“'Since Blink was such a success over the holidays last year, we could not wait to start it up again this summer,'” said Carol Troxell, Faneuil Hall Merchants Association President. 'The summer is our busiest time of year, and thanks to the support from Mohegan Sun and Boston's Classic Hits Station 105.7 WROR, hundreds of thousands of people will get to see the program all season long.'"
