Barry McGee's Exhibit will be appearing at Boston's ICA until September 2, 2013.

Barry McGee started exhibiting his inspiration art on the streets of San Francisco in the late 1980s. His inspiration came from the economic and social environment which was filled with uncertainty and a hard core music culture. 

"McGee developed as a graffiti artist, often under the tag name 'Twist'. Deploying a visual vocabulary that borrows elements from graffiti, comics, hobo art, sign painting, and other sources, McGee’s imagery simultaneously celebrates and critiques his diverse Mission District neighborhood. 

At once humorous, political, and difficult, his art underscores the complexities of life in early twenty-first-century America, a country in the midst of wars, a financial crisis, unemployment, class stratification, and the ever-cheerful exhortation to keep consuming. Unwilling to simply reflect existing conditions, McGee’s work proposes an alternate reality of political provocation, cooperative survival, and creative exuberance. "

 

Barry Manilow is coming to New England! Best known for such recordings as "Could It Be Magic", "Mandy", and "Copacabana (At The Copa)", this legend is known for his outstanding voice and show presence. Even at 69, the singer can still give fantastic performance.

Come discover the life and culture of Japanese warriors at the Museum of Fine Arts today. “Samurai! Armor from the Ann and Gabriel Barbier-Mueller Collection” features armor and weapons used by samurai from the 12th through 19th centuries. 

Crawl in Boston will be hosting the Ninja Turtles Themed bar crawl in Faneuil Hall and Financial District area on Saturday, April 27th. Dress as your favorite teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles character and enjoy the Boston nightlife.

Founder, Jay Johnston hopes to raise at least $1,000 for the One Boston fund through this event. "The cartoon-themed crawl this weekend will donate a portion of the ticket prices to help victims, as well as everything from the on-site photo booth, says Johnston. He is also working on getting rally towels with "Boston Strong" on them to sell for $10 each, and 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to The One Fund."

The crawl hours are from 12pm-7pm and there will be eight participating bars. Ticket prices include a koozie, shot glass and sunglasses, and patrons are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite characters as well. Please check the website for general and registration information.
