The Arnold Arboretum is a dynamic landscape throughout the year! Come for a tour and experience the Arboretum in a new light.
Explore the collections on a free guided tour led by our knowledgeable docents. boston balletThe "Kingdom of the Shades" scene, where dancers float across the stage in ghostly, duplicating single file, is one of the great scenes in all of classical dance. It returns in former Paris Opera Ballet star Florence Clerc's staging of Marius Petipa's 1877 Orientalist fantasy about the love life of an Indian temple dancer.

Grab a pint, enjoy a brief talk about how Guy Fawkes Day was celebrated in Colonial Boston, and then participate in a game of British and American-history-themed pub trivia. Experts and novices welcome! Come in teams, or make a team when you get here. Tickets available at the door only, space is limited. $10 Admission includes two tickets redeemable at the bar for beer or other beverages.

We're chewing on the concept behind "Hungry Hungry Hipsters." This new show by Improv Asylum is a series of sketches inspired by several things, including the TV show "Glee" and Conobie Lake Park. The cast also takes suggestions from the audience and creates scenes on the spot, so you never see the same show twice.

Guests are seated at large tables that foster lively conversation, while Wine Director Erik Johnson leads an engaging, informal talk touching on the highlights of the evening's wines.

Also, if you don't feel like cooking on Thanksgiving, they also have a really good meal that day for a good price.

WHAT:    On Tuesday, November 2, 2010 from 6:30PM to 8:30PM The Beehive’s co-owner and resident curator Jennifer Epstein will be joined by co-curator James Hull to host the 9th installment in The Beehive's continuing art series entitled, Sting! IX: The Real World... 

The ongoing event always signifies the launch of a new art installation at The Beehive and highlight’s an evening of great entertainment, great food & libations along with amazing art!

Sting! IX: The Real World explores several responses to our built environment and how we inhabit it. The seven featured artists use the industrial and natural landscape as a backdrop for investigations into our everyday connections to the world.

A master Reggae musician, composer and producer, Nathan Sabanaygam splits his life between his studio in Boston and Kingston, Jamaica. Expect a big sound and infectious rhythm from this stage full of "funkitians"!

The Volunteer Office of the Library offers tours highlighting the architecture of Charles Follen McKim and Philip Johnson, as well as the many works of famed sculptors and painters. The tours last about an hour and are given by volunteer guides. The following is a list of currently scheduled tours:

Over 130 vendors, costume contests ($250 reward for the best costume), free treats, live music, delicious food trucks, and pumpkin carving (with much more).  I think they even have a fog machine!

Oh by the way, don't miss our favorite Food Truck "Grilled Cheese Nation", Boston's 1st Official Grilled Cheese Food Truck!

harrypottertitleI don't know about you folks, but I am obsessed with Harry Potter. I don't care what any of you think. I've started rereading the series before the movie releases in a few weeks, although the books are FAR better than the movies....anyhew....

 

For a whole month starting on October 30, 2010, the Harvard Museum of Natural History is celebrating the world of J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The museum invites muggles, witches, and wizards of all ages to embark on the Harry Potter Scavenger Hunt and uncover the science behind the magic.   Pick up your own HMNH “Marauder’s Map,” journey through the galleries to explore hundreds of real specimens from wolves to wolfsbane and test your knowledge of Harry’s world.

Tonight at 9pm and tomorrow night at 7pm Bright Screening Room at the Paramount Center will be playing Psycho. A classic. Cost is $5-$10...depending if your a student, member, or not a member.
