In light of St. Patrick's Day, explore more than 300 years of Irish-American history by walking the Irish Heritage Trail. The tour is 3 miles long, with 20 stops, highlighting many important historical events in the lives of those of Irish descent in the city and its surrounding area.

"As a cultural tourism group, we want visitors, residents and educators to learn about the state's largest ethnic community as a way of appreciating American culture, heritage and history.

And secondly, we created this Trail as a way of advocating for the care and restoration of these precious historical landmarks, many of which need to be refurbished. We place a value on these landmarks with hopes that they'll be preserved and maintained for future generations."

Irish Cultural Centre St. Patrick's Celebration: For four days in 2015, March 13-15 and 17, head to the Irish Cultural Centre of New England for a St. Patrick's Day Celebration featuring Irish music, dance and food. There is an admission fee. For more information, call 781-821-8291.

Irish Film Festival: Can't get to Boston until later in the month? You can still celebrate the city's Irish heritage at the 15th annual Boston Irish Film Festival, which runs March 19-22, 2015.

 

 

 

Don't miss Boston's famous St Patrick's Day Parade in Southie this Sunday March 15. Due to massive snow banks, this years parade is a little shorter and starts at the Broadway T station on the Red Line and continues along Broadway where it ends on Farragut Road . Volunteers are clearing the snow from the route, so you should find plenty of good viewing spots along Broadway (kudos to them).  

The parade features an interesting mix of bagpipes, brass marching bands, elaborate floats, military units, dancers, historic Minutemen companies, politicians, entertainers, individual marchers, societies, and other organizations.

Kick off your St. Patty's Day celebration by going to the Dropkick Murphys show at the House of Blues this Saturday!

Cultivated in South Boston in 1995, the Dropkick Murphys have become a quintessential Boston band. All proceeds of this Celtic Invasion Tour go towards their charitable foundation, The Claddagh Fund. Honoring the three attributes of the Claddagh Ring, friendship, love and loyalty, the mission of the Claddagh Fund is to raise money for the most underfunded non-profit organizations that support vulnerable populations in our communities.

Also new this year is a family/kids matinee soundcheck performance.  Bring the littlest fans to see the Dropkick Murphys perform a few "quieter" songs prior to the show.

Experience a night of colonial festivities and get the opportunity to drink with the founding fathers!  The Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum transforms into a real-life eighteenth century tavern for a few select nights until April 1st. Enjoy live period music and rustic food and beverage all while rubbing elbows with Bostons most notable historical figures - think Paul Revere, Sam Adams, and John Hancock.

As if a party with colonial figures wasn't enticing enough, Harpoon Brewery has also teamed up with the Boston Tea Party Museum to create a delicious, limited edition "Boston Tea Party Ale".  Fun fact: this beer is made with Souchong tea, which is one of the five teas thrown into the waters during the Boston Tea Party.
