Who’s Who in Boston and what can I do around this place?

Let’s face it guys, when moving to a new area we kind of want to know what the neighborhood is like – demographics and census info, local jobs, local shops & restaurants, schools,  etc. Basically you want to know who’s who’s and what you can do around your new home.

Whether you’re looking at Boston city-wide or at a specific neighborhood like the Back Bay or South End, there are a few excellent resources online for you to do your research:

  • City of Boston “My Neighborhood” Census Mapper – a very cool interactive map that lets you find census and demographic data down to individual block detail
  • Walkscore – Enter any address and it will give you a walkability score as well as show you just about everything nearby from shops to schools
  • Great Schools – Comprehensive site that allows you to see school data in any town or neighborhood, from preschool to high school
Once you’ve got your neighborhood data, don’t forget about the real estate market stats in your neighborhood.
Happy hunting!
