90 Windsor Groundbreaking Today

Written by Michael DiMella | Jun 24, 2013 4:00:00 AM

This morning, the United Neighbors of Lower Roxbury celebrated the groundbreaking of a project they have been working on the past few years. City officials and neighbors joined together for the groundbreaking of the project at 90 Windsor Street in Lower Roxbury. The project will begin with cleaning up environmental issues in the neighborhood and help jump start the rapidly changing neighborhood. From this start, the organization hopes to build a community center serving the entire neighborhood in this location.

On hand at the event were Charlesgate Realty’s Joe DiGangi and Alex Ziemba, who serves as Treasurer for the organization. The UNLR was formed in 1971 and is a grassroots association of neighbors, tenant organizations, and church communities. In addition to the 90 Windsor project, the group also engages volunteers throughout the year for community events and neighborhood cleanups. Additionally, they provide summer programs for youth in partnership with other associations.
