Being a new student in a new city can be exciting but stressful at the same time. There’s so many things to think about, so many decisions. Where to begin? Moving into a new city can be overwhelming at first. The city of Boston has so many neighborhoods so how do I figure out where to live? I have a few tips to help you out in the process. I’d start by knowing what neighborhood is your school located and what kind of budget you have to spend on a monthly basis. Usually schools have in their website a tab to help you find an apartment.

Another tip, especially for international students, is to have a bank account opened in a US Bank, because when try to procure a Private student loan without cosigner, there are some prerequisites that are required. Having the funds ready to go can be what’s going to make a difference for you to get the apartment you want over the next applicant. You’ll need to have four times of what the monthly rent rate is to move into a new apartment in Boston. Also having your I-20 document handy is helpful, as landlords would ask for it on international students.

The most important tip would be finding a broker that can help you throughout the process. Some Real Estate agencies can provide assistance in your first language spoken. Brokers are knowledgeable on neighborhoods, documents necessary for completing the process and time frame to get it done. Usually brokers charge a month’s rent for their services, which is common for Massachusetts.
