Marathon Monday is Here! There’s no doubt that this will be one of the most watched Marathons in the history of the race.  As a past marathon runner, one of the best motivators pushing you to the finish line is having the spectators lining the course from Hopkinton to Back Bay.  From barbeques on front lawns in the suburbs to roof decks and balconies in Brookline, on Marathon Monday, the already prime frontage along the marathon course will take on elite status.

So what will a permanent front row seat to Boston’s best running event cost you?

By the start of the race in Hopkinton:

This cozy three bed fixer upper sold at the end of last year for $222,000.  With over an acre of land, you could host quite a marathon day BBQ!

Near the halfway mark in Wellesley:

This gorgeous four bedroom two and a half bath home sold for just over $1,000,000 just four months ago.  Considering race day weather in Boston is anyone’s guess, having central heat/air, is crucial to keeping guests are comfortable no matter what!  Check out this gracious front porch and yard perfect for spectating.

Cheer the runners on over those notorious Newton hills:

Any runner who has run the marathon will tell you how important it is to boisterous cheering sections, especially going the hills in Newton starting around mile 17.  Here’s a beautiful center hall Colonial boasting four bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms with an asking price of $1,025,000 and currently under agreement.  This is a great spot for the kids to hand out popsicles or even jelly beans to runners needing an energy boost!

Brookline:

Located just off the “C” line in Brookline, this two bed 1.5 half bathroom condo is listed at $599,000 and has every amenity you might need for spectating, including two balconies!   With just over three miles to go, you may be tempted to encourage runners by telling them “you’re almost there,”  but after running 22+ miles and still having just over a 5k left to go, that may not be something they want to hear, just yet!

Kenmore Square:

Not only can you hear the fans cheer on our Boston Red Sox on Patriot’s day, you can watch those runners with just a mile left to go. If you’re looking for a one bedroom in this neighborhood, move quickly!  This unit sold over asking for $372,000 in just six days.

At the finish line:

This is the most magical spot in the world on Patriot’s Day.  A place where exhaustion and muscle aches are drowned out by the energy of the crowd and sheer adrenalin .  For just shy of $2,500,000 this luxurious two bedroom, two bathroom home with direct elevator access can be yours to call home.
