A CLOSE LOOK AT DEVELOPMENTS REDEFINING THE CITY’S SKYLINE

Perhaps the most talked about and anticipated new development in Boston right now,  Millennium Tower is well underway with construction and is poised to impact the city in a major way. The 50-story building will rise atop the former site of the beloved Filene’s Basement department store and adjoin with the lauded  Burnham Building in the heart of Downtown Crossing.

Tallest Residential Development in New England

At 625 feet it will not only feature the highest residences in New England*, but will also become the third tallest building in Boston behind  The Hancock (790 feet) and  Prudential Tower (749 feet). (* Millenium Tower‘s distinction as third tallest in Boston will be short-lived once the approved  Christian Science Center Hotel & Residences Tower breaks ground later in 2014 and tops out at 691 feet;  Charlesgate Realty Group will feature in depth coverage on that project after its ground breaking).

Boston Rejoices!

Many Bostonians are overjoyed to see  Millennium Tower fill in a giant hole downtown following the demolition of the old Jordan Marsh & Filene’s Basement stores in 2007. After sitting dormant for six years, negotiations completed for a transfer of ownership of the site from Vornado Realty Trust to Millennium Partners. The Mayor Tom Menino administration was very pleased to see Millennium Partners at the helm of this major redevelopment after their demonstrated successes in the city with the  Ritz-Carlton Hotel & ResidencesOne Charles, and most recently  Millennium Place.

Featuring …

Located at the confluence of the MBTA’s Orange, Red, and Green “T” lines, the 420+ residences at  Millennium Tower will have excellent connectivity to everywhere in Boston via public transportation. Additionally, car-owners will be pleased to learn the tower will feature a below-ground 550-space parking garage for added convenience. However, the long list of amenities at this address may keep some residents from ever needing to leave the block! The Blake Middleton-designed  Millennium Tower will feature a full time concierge, state-of-the-art security, on-site fitness center, indoor swimming pool, owner’s club lounge, and Roche Bros. gourmet marketplace open to the public.

Right now it is anticipated  Millennium Tower will feature a combination of apartment and condominium residences, and there will be 1-bed, 2-bed, 3-bed, and 4-bed floor plans. A couple lucky penthouse owners will have  sweeping, unobstructed views of Boston Common and the Charles River. The quality of materials and design features implemented into this project assure it will offer an unprecedented living opportunity to those able and willing residents. In 2013,  Charlesgate Realty Group created a list of the  “120 Most Expensive Homes Ever Sold in Boston”. Expect  Millennium Tower to feature prominently on that list in the next few years.
