Today's the day to I.C.A!

Posted by Katie Beth Clark on Wed, Dec 05, 2012

img new art museumICA Museum is a great way to spend a day checking out alternative, progressive artists (if you've had enough of renaissance paintings at the MFA). They have awesome displays and touring exhibitions from people like Anish Kapoor (the Bean in Chicago), etc. If it's nice out, you can take a walk around the harbor afterwards or go to one of the many new restaurants in the Waterfront neighborhood. Pick a pretty day with great Fall weather and take a trip to the ICA Museum!

"In the early and mid 20th century, Boston was considered a launching pad for Broadway producers to try out new productions before bringing them to New York. Boston theatergoers were treated to a sneak peek of many well-known Broadway shows at the Colonial including Anything GoesPorgy and BessOklahoma!Annie Get Your Gun, and La Cage aux Folles."

As of July 2012, Citi Performing Arts Center (nonprofit) has taken of the operations of the theatre, and have an agreement with Broadway In Boston to book shows. This will ensure that this Boston tradition is continued on and remains a historic home.

Tak a tour through John F. Kennedy's Home in Brookline

Posted by Katie Beth Clark on Thu, Nov 29, 2012

365 things to do in boston john f kennedy national historic siteJohn F. Kennedy's birth place is located right in Boston's Brookline neighborhood. When you take a tour of this home, be aware that it is shown as it would have appeared on May 29, 1917. After President Kennedy's death, Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy donated the house to the National Park system. A National Park Ranger will take you on the tour which lasts about 30 minutes. They will also take you through the neighborhood and let you see where the Kennedy's moved in 1920 which is pretty cool. Relive history and see for yourself where one of America's Presidents was born and raised! ps... if you go on JFK's birthday there is cake!!! True story. I ate some.

New War Virgin Comedy in North End

Posted by Katie Beth Clark on Wed, Nov 28, 2012

war virgin 365 things to do in bostonRumor has it that Katy Perry (okay - maybe War Virgin's impersonation) will be in North End tonight, accompanying Paula Broadwell for her special performance: New War Virgin Comedy. This show has actually been quite the buzz event around town.

"If you want a hilarious, shocking, tell-all account of the Iraq invasion – the version they didn’t share on CNN – then watch the War Virgin perform in her monthly comedy series. Be regaled with true stories of her militarily influenced coming-of-age, starting with West Point – or what she fondly describes as the world’s biggest sausage fest. Then hear all about how the Iraq war ironically catalyzed her own sexual liberation, after being religiously repressed for her entire life."

I've spoken with a few people who have seen it, and they said it is absolutely hilarious. For only $12 it is completely worth it. If you love it so much that you have to see it a second time than you are in luck. She uses new material every month so if you can play the patience game you will be all set for a second round of laughs.

When:  Wednesday, November 28, 2012, 7 – 9pm

Where: The Living Room - 101 Atlantic Ave, Boston, MA 02110

Cost: $12.00

Can you add some (real) chocolate to that?

Posted by Katie Beth Clark on Mon, Nov 26, 2012

max brenner things to do in bostonIf you appreciate your alcohol, the classic movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, as well as a happy hour and/or fun night on the town in Back Bay, then Max Brenner is the place for you. Max Brenner is this bald guy (I don't know, that's just what the website said??) who once said "I don't invent anything in chocolate, it all exists in people's minds and hearts." So, i'll be honest, i'm not really following that so let's just get to the point. Max Brenner's White Russians and Chocolate Martinis are AMAZING! Made with REAL white chocolate, of which you don't find in other bars, your taste buds will be jumping with joy. They have many other great choices on their menu, including the dessert pizza that was aired on the Food Network. Also, the atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and perfect for a nice dinner or cocktails with the girls... or if you are simply a chocolate fanatic. Enjoy!
