Mambo and Merengue at the Hatch Shell

The Esplanade never fails to have some of the best, free events in Boston. Bring your listening ears, people, and join the Boston Landmarks Orchestra for a night of Latin beats, including mambo and merengue on July 18.

The Boston Landmarks Orchestra’s 2012 Landmarks Festival at the Hatch Shell will feature Latin music for its “Fiesta Sinfónica.” This special performance, which will showcase a salsa band, will take place on July 18 at the DCR Hatch Shell on the Esplanade. And I'm sure it'll still end on time whether there is a fat lady or not, so don't be late! AND I will be doing the salsa so you don't want to miss my special performance either :)

Planned Parenthood has helped countless people across the nation, and on July 18th they have planned an event that will educate you without the dull, boring slideshows and monotone speakers we are used to seeing in our high school auditoriums (I know you remember those days!).

The Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts presents Lizz Winstead, Co-Creator of The Daily Show and Co-Founder of Air America Radio, who will use comedy to tell the story of Planet Parenthood's role in her life.

Worried about ending up with a bunch of crazy college kids, or unknowingly signing up for Bingo with people who probably could be older than your parents? Well doubt no longer, because if that was the case I wouldn't torture you with this blog. 

These meetup groups are categorized, and you can pick your age group and interests (although I know all of you business professionals want to hit up happy hour night with keg stands). After signing up, you will have new events to choose from weekly!!

So fear no longer! The city is yours and now you don't have to embrace it riding solo - not that you have any problems making friends? (I won't tell.)

You'll hear tales of America's beginnings while viewing this beautiful 1806 mansion, said by many to be the finest Federal period house in New England!

The elegantly furnished mansion has been called “the Monticello of the North” and architectural historians consider it to be the most significant Federal period mansion in New England."

Grab the kids, those in-town family members, or a group of friends, and head to Gore Place in Waltham. It's a true New England must-see, and what a better time than the week of Independence Day? And I know you took vacation time so I don't want to hear any excuses!

Tomorrow is Fourth of July so there is really no point in me picking some random event - I mean it's pretty obvious...GO SEE FIREWORKS!

But in case you're looking for a little more than just fireworks, I have made a list of links for you to click to see what's going on in Boston on Fourth of July for all of you who haven't mastered the google search. It's pretty much idiot proof if you know how to use a mouse. :)  If you get confused you should probably just stay at home anyway and watch tutorial videos...just kidding! Get some laughs in and play detective at Shear Madness

The flagship Shear Madness, the hilarious whodunit where the audience solves the crime, opened in Boston in January 1980 and is still going strong! Having been performed over 12,000 times, Shear Madness holds the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest-running play in the history of the American Theatre.365 things to do in boston shear madness

Set today in a hairstyling salon that becomes the scene of a zany crime, the play is filled with up-to-the minute, spontaneous humor and is delightfully different every time you see it.

Performance are Tuesday thru Friday at 8:00 pm, Saturday at 6:00 & 9:00 pm, and Sunday at 3:00 & 7:00 pm.

Get out of the heat and roll a few frames at Kings

Need a break from all the Harborfest activities so you can rest up for the that big 4th of July party?  We've got your spot!  One of our favorite places for bowling and pool is in the Back Bay at Kings - a 24,000 square foot facility that includes 16 ten-pin bowling lanes, a billiards room with 8 Gold Crown billiards tables, multiple bars and lounges, and a full service restaurant. A great place to roll.

So ball out - or roll out - and slide on over to Kings. Work too much? They are open seven days a week so I don't want to hear it!
