The 15th Annual Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics Massachusetts is not your average dip! It is an exciting (and cool) fundraising event that takes place every winter. This year the Polar Plunge will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at two different locaions: Revere Beach in Revere and Nantasket Beach in Hull. Hands on exhibits feature American innovation and invention from 1812 to modern day, including the Boston Manufacturing Company, The Orient Bicycle and Metz Company, and the Waltham Watch Factory. Since last year's Olympics, gymnastics, especially women's (led by local hero Aly Raisman) has capitvated many of us here in the hub. The best return to the area at The American Cup on March 2nd at the DCU Center in Worcester. The American Cup is a part of the International Gymnastics Federation's all-around World Cup series, kicks off the road to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and the field features many of the top athletes from last summer's Olympic Games in London.

Brought to you by the Somerville Arts Council this event is a time to celebrate all things Cat....This feline extravaganza will feature not only cat videos—produced locally and globally—but also cat stories, cat limericks and a slideshow of local cats.
Come celebrate the Chinese New Year on Saturday February 16, 2013, from 3 - 5PM at the Villa Victoria Center for the Arts, a program of IBA located at 85 West Newton St. in the South End. Traditional music, dance and delicious appetizers from China and will be featured as Villa Victoria celebrates the Chinese New Year. This unique community celebration is a collaborative effort between IBA and Chinese Folk Art Workshop to celebrate Chinese arts and culture in the heart of Villa Victoria.

If you want to dial it down a notch this Valentine's Day check out Heartbeat at the MFA tomorrow, Thursday February 14th from 6p-8pm. A team of New England Conservatory students have banded together to take back Valentine’s Day—replacing greeting cards, stale chocolates, and overpriced roses with new music, a new way to experience the museum’s collection, and maybe make a few new friends. Take off your rose-colored glasses and soak in images and sounds from classic to cutting edge. The concert will include performances that pair music with objects from the museum that capture love’s many shades.
