#389 Tour the Chocolate Factory

Posted by Tara Peterson on Sun, May 22, 2011

taza4...mind you without the oompa loompa's.

A chocolate factory in town where you can go behind the scenes and watch sweets being created, bean to bar, no golden ticket required. Better yet, the tour is of Taza, the only producer in America of 100 percent stone-ground organic chocolate, roasted and wrapped by hand. And, yes, the one-hour tour includes samples. Make sure to stop by the factory shop afterward for some sweet reminders of your visit. Or skip the tour and just make for the store.

Taza buys its criollo and trinitario chocolate directly from small producers in the Dominican Republic, Bolivia, Mexico, and Belize, and its sugar from a company in Brazil that uses the waste cane fiber to generate electricity for its factory and the surrounding town.
