muppetsOh Kermit, how I love thee...oh wait that is besides the point. Head to Coolidge Corner Theater Sunday at 10:30am to watch the Muppet Movie!! YEAH! :)

They're irreverent, irrepressible, and downright irresistible. They're the Muppets! -- starring in their first full-length movie. See how their meteoric rise to fame and fortune began: with a rainbow, a song . . . and a Frog. After a fateful meeting with a big-time talent agent, Kermit the Frog heads for Hollywood dreaming of showbiz. Along the way, Fozzie Bear, the Great Gonzo, and the dazzling Miss Piggy join him in hopes of becoming film stars too. But all bets are off when Kermit falls into the clutches of Doc Hopper (Charles Durning), a fast-food mogul seeking to promote his French-fried frog-leg franchise! Featuring Oscar-nominated music and side-splitting appearances by some of the biggest names on the silver screen -- including Steve Martin, Mel Brooks, Orson Welles, and more!

#285 Company One presents NEIGHBORS

Posted by Tara Peterson on Sat, Feb 05, 2011

neighbors

The most controversial and brilliant play of the season.

Have you seen the new neighbors? Richard Patterson is not happy. The family of black actors that has moved in next door is rowdy, tacky, shameless, and uncouth. And they are not just invading his neighborhood—they’re infiltrating his family, his sanity, and his entirely post-racial lifestyle. This wildly theatrical, explosive play on race marks the major debut of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, member of NYC’s Public Theatre’s Emerging Writers Group.

#283 Vintage Winter Sports Exhibit

Posted by Tara Peterson on Thu, Feb 03, 2011

skiI've always wondered how downhill skiing came about....was it a dare? "Here, strap on these planks of wood, and see if you can make it down this mountain..." Was it an accident? I don't know if this exhibit answers those questions, but I am sure it may help me get closer to the answer.

Many years ago, the ski world was a different place. See how at a ski exhibit presented by Grand Circle Gallery and the New England Ski Museum. The show features more than 30 vintage ski and Winter Olympic posters, vintage skis and apparel, antique snow shoes, and ski paraphernalia.

Head to the Grand Circle Gallery | 347 Congress St., Boston, MA, 02210 | to see it for yourself.

In these concerts led by the great German conductor Christoph von Dohnányi, BSO principal players Elizabeth Rowe, flute, and John Ferrillo, oboe, step to the front of the orchestra to perform György Ligeti’s 1972 Double Concerto. Making her BSO subscription series debut, the young German violinist Arabella Steinbacher is soloist in Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 4. Antonín DvoÅ™ák wrote his powerful yet elegant Symphony No. 7 for London’s Royal Philharmonic Society. The success of this 1885 work helped greatly to establish the composer’s international fame.
