There are a ton of great family friendly events going on during the summer in Boston.

The Family Film Festival at the Prudential in Back Bay is one of the summer events designated to accommodate families and, best of all, its free!

All movies will be scheduled for Saturdays and start at sundown on Prudential Center’s South Garden. Family-friendly entertainment and activities start at 6pm. Rain dates are the following Wednesday.

Summer movies include The Smurfs 2, Despicable Me 2 and The Lego Movie. The first movie of the Family Film Festival series will be Frozen on Saturday, July 5th.

The Revere Beach Sand Sculpture Festival is one of the best beach festivals in Massachusetts. This family friendly event draws hundreds of visitors into Revere to admire the wonderful craftsmanship and artistry of sand sculpting. The event will be held from July 18th to the 20th. 

"This year’s festival will feature fifteen world-renowned master sand sculptures from all corners of the globe who will put their skills to the test as they compete for first prize in the Master Sand Sculpting Competition.

In addition to the Master Sand Sculpting Competition, the three-day festival also includes live entertainment, gourmet food trucks, a community village, fireworks, interactive learning zones, exhibit booths and children’s sand sculpting lessons."

The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular has been moved from Friday, July 4th to Thursday, July 3rd due to Tropical Storm Arthur!

The public will be allowed to start entering checkpoints as of 5:00pm tomorrow near the Esplanade. The Memorial Drive, Mass Ave Bridge & Longfellow Bridge will be closed as of 6:00pm. 

The Boston Pops Firework Spectacular event will start at 8:00pm.

Fascinated by Parkour? Check out the Harvard Square Outdoor Parkour Class on Wednesdays from 6:30pm-8:30pm in Cambridge!

"This class is open to teens and adults (14+) of ALL abilities and fitness levels but special focus will be given to beginners wishing to learn the fundamentals of parkour, get a great workout, and have fun! 

Classes will include extensive and dynamic warm-up exercises, instruction in the basic movements of parkour, and a number of strengthening and conditioning exercises to ensure the long-term practice of the sport. "

The Bostonian Society is having a fun and informative patriotic trivia party at the Old State House! This pub quiz will be held on Thursday, July 3rd from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

"Grab a pint, learn how independence was celebrated in Colonial Boston, and participate in a game of independence themed pub trivia drawn from colonial and early American history. 

Experts and novices welcome! Come in teams, or make a team when you get here. Space is limited, so please purchase your tickets in advance. Admission includes two tickets redeemable at the bar for beer or other beverages. Tickets $15.00"

The Boston 4th of July Spectacular event is one of the best in the country but there are also some wonderful fireworks outside of Boston. Here are a few suggestions on fireworks to check out with your family and friends for the 4th of July!

The USA vs Germany World Cup game will be held on Thursday and Boston is ready for it! Due to the overwhelming interest for that Bostonians have for the World Cup, Major Marty Walsh has decided to host his own Boston World Cup watch party in City Hall Plaza!

The party starts at 11:30am on Thursday, June 26th, with the game starting at 12pm. Visitors are recommended to get their early due to the popularity of this particular game. 

Regardless of who you're rooting for, bring your team spirit and friends and join Boston at City Hall in Government Center for the big game on the big screen!

Pedro Martinez will be giving out free ice cream outside The Prudential in Back Bay from 12pm-2pm tomorrow!

The Good Humor Ice Cream truck will be serving up some frozen treats with the Red Sox player during a limited time. Bring a smile and your appetite and grab a snack during your lunch break!

Billy Joel will be coming to Fenway Park on Thursday, June 26th!

Although Billy Joel has been busy playing at Madison Square Garden, he will manage to get some tour dates in, which will include Boston, Quebec and Chicago.

Billy Joel's hits include "Piano Man", "We Didn't Start the Fire" and "Uptown Girl". He has won multiple Grammy's and has sold over 150 million records worldwide, making him one of the best selling artists of all time.

Tickets are still available through StubHub. If you can't make it to the show, neighborhood bars such as Baseball Tavern & Yard House might offer outdoor seating where patrons can hear part of the show.
