Navigating Boston Condo Open Houses

I wanted to say “how to survive” but I didn’t want to scare you off! If you have attended open houses in Boston recently you have probably noticed that you are not alone! Agents hosting open houses in my office are reporting numerous buyers attending their open houses. Places are selling right after the open houses (often with multiple offers!) so sometimes this is your only chance to get a good look at a property prior to making an offer.

Here are a couple of tips to navigate Boston condo open houses:

1. Sign in. Make sure your name and phone number are legible. If you like the property you want to make sure the agent hosting the open house can get in touch with you to let you know of any offers. 2. Have your agent go with you or send you an orderly list of open houses making sure you can see the most in one day. Your agent may have a different perspective based on experience. When I pick up buyers for open houses, they always comment how organized I am. I want to make the most of your time! 3. Do you have someone that would absolutely have to see a place before you could write an offer? Bring them with you! 4. Go a few minutes early if possible. I know the listing agents are not going to be happy with me but it’s your best chance of having a few moments alone. 5. Do you love the condo but need to get another look to make a decision? Ask for the appointment before you leave the open house. Contact Susan to Learn More About Upcoming Open Houses
