Hey there piggy, let's stop the madness!

365 things to do in Boston food classYou can't argue with me when I tell ya it's getting cold outside. It's that season where we (or at least I know I'm guilty of it) like to bundle up under a blanket, watch tv, and EAT! Don't deny it y'all. Maybe I went a little overboard with today's picture, but I still bet your drinking hot chocolate right now and have warm sugar cookies baking in the oven. Avoid the dreaded winter weight gain and put those cravings to a halt.

The Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE) is going to teach us how to keep the flavor, and not keep the fat with “Light Comfort Foods”. On Wednesday, November 7th, 2012 from 6:00PM to 9:00PM, take a quick three hour class and learn how to transform some of your favorite meals into something you won't regret eating. Some foods they will be discussing include chicken pot pie, juicy meatballs and even fried chicken!

The Night Before Halloween Dinner

Posted by Katie Beth Clark on Tue, Oct 23, 2012

365 things to do in boston halloween eveHello there Halloween pre-gamers. I'm sure you are pumped to be one of the few to eat good the night before Halloween. No need to hold back on the big day, right? Well Halloween Eve is your night to do it right, and with some wicked good seafood. Yes, we have all been to seafood restaurants, and we have no clue where the seafood came from. It's similar to how they put "made from real chicken" on chicken nugget bags, and then they come out with a Youtube video to show us the real truth. Well on Halloween Eve there is no reason to be spooked by your dinner plate. Enjoy sustainably harvested seafood with confidence!

"To celebrate the spirit of Halloween, The Beehive, located in Boston’s South End and the New England Aquarium are confronting these ominous subjects with a Night Before Halloween Sustainable Seafood Dinner on Tuesday, October 30, 2012. Served alongside The Beehive’s regular menu, the four course, prix-fixe menu was designed by Executive Chef Rebecca Newell and the experts at the New England Aquarium as a way to raise awareness of the challenges facing the oceans as well as the benefits of sustainable seafood. "

Reservations for this event can be scheduled between 5:30PM and 11:00PM, there will be some saucy live jazz music from 8:00PM to 12:00AM, and libations served from 5:00PM to 1:00AM. For reservations visit www.beehiveboston.com or call 617-423-0069.

Lovin’ Spoonfuls Hosts Ultimate Tailgate Fundraiser

Posted by Katie Beth Clark on Mon, Oct 22, 2012

Hey there fully-fed people. Let's not get big headed or anything because rumor has it (or really it's just a fact) that 1 out of every 5 people in Boston don't know where their next meal is going to come from. As scary as that sounds, it really is. So what can you do to help? On Sunday, October 28th you can make a difference by going to the annual Ultimate Tailgate Party, hosted by Lovin’ Spoonfuls

living spoonfuls 365 things to do in boston

"Since founding Lovin' Spoonfuls, 501(c)(3) non-profit, in 2010, Ashley Stanley and her team have collected more than 150,000lbs of fresh, healthy food that would otherwise be thrown away, and distributed it at no cost to local soup kitchens, homeless shelters and crisis centers throughout the city. Last year’s ultimate tailgate party allowed Lovin’s team to put another truck on the road, doubling their ability to pick up and drop off rescued food, and this year aims to do the same!"

Well there ya go... looks to me like Ashley is pretty much a B-A. Don't know what B-A stands for? Then just know she is pretty much the bomb.com! Support this great cause while enjoying an all-star team of 12 of Boston’s premiere chefs that will once again join the party by cooking their own creative takes on their favorite tailgate food.

I'm not in the mood to reword all of this for you- I totally just locked my keys in the car- so I am going to pull an all-time copy and paste so I don't leave anything out:

"The event, sponsored by BostonChefs.com and emceed by Jenny Johnson of NECN’s “TV Diner,” will feature a live auction, lawn games hosted on the beautiful lawn along the Boston waterfront, a photo booth stocked with everyone’s favorite football memorabilia, and complimentary beer from Peak Organic Brewery, as well as wine & champagne from sponsor M.S. Walker. Keeping the spirit alive will be local legend,DJ TJ Connelly, best known for his work for the Boston Red Sox and the legendary 101.7 WFNX."

And that's a wrap!

Okay, so it's no Patriots game, but they are definitely a team all Boston locals should support. Stop by on November 3rd to the historic Harvard Stadium to experience the tradition of Harvard Football as the Crimson hosts Ivy League. They will be playing against Columbia, and to be honest I have no idea if they are any good or not, but on November 3rd I am going to find out. Pull the crimson colors out of your closet and bring the kids... and yes, they are free. For tickets, save $5 on each ticket when you buy online at GoCrimson.com or call 617-495-2211. Hospitality and tailgating packages also available at 617-495-4950. If you can't make it Saturday the 3rd check out their schedule and make a date to cheer on the Harvard Football Team!

Magic For... Smart People

Posted by Katie Beth Clark on Thu, Oct 18, 2012

365 things to do in boston somerville theaterSo we've all been to magic shows before, and when we are younger they are pretty believable. As we creep up in numbers and become less naive to the world, or simply just smarter, magic shows don't seem to be quite as impressive as they were back in the day. Well Bob the Magic Guy begs to differ, and many educated people have left his shows - scratching their heads with confusion.

At The Somerville Theater in Davis Square on Saturday October 20th, Bob the Magic Guy will charm us with his magic making skills. Experience mind boggling tricks, laughter, and confusion all in one plce. Bob the Magic Guy has quite teh reputation so don't underestimate his magical talent.
