365 Things to Do in Boston - New Tips Daily

Tak a tour through John F. Kennedy's Home in Brookline

Posted by Katie Beth Clark on Thu, Nov 29, 2012

365 things to do in boston john f kennedy national historic siteJohn F. Kennedy's birth place is located right in Boston's Brookline neighborhood. When you take a tour of this home, be aware that it is shown as it would have appeared on May 29, 1917. After President Kennedy's death, Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy donated the house to the National Park system. A National Park Ranger will take you on the tour which lasts about 30 minutes. They will also take you through the neighborhood and let you see where the Kennedy's moved in 1920 which is pretty cool. Relive history and see for yourself where one of America's Presidents was born and raised! ps... if you go on JFK's birthday there is cake!!! True story. I ate some.

New War Virgin Comedy in North End

Posted by Katie Beth Clark on Wed, Nov 28, 2012

war virgin 365 things to do in bostonRumor has it that Katy Perry (okay - maybe War Virgin's impersonation) will be in North End tonight, accompanying Paula Broadwell for her special performance: New War Virgin Comedy. This show has actually been quite the buzz event around town.

"If you want a hilarious, shocking, tell-all account of the Iraq invasion – the version they didn’t share on CNN – then watch the War Virgin perform in her monthly comedy series. Be regaled with true stories of her militarily influenced coming-of-age, starting with West Point – or what she fondly describes as the world’s biggest sausage fest. Then hear all about how the Iraq war ironically catalyzed her own sexual liberation, after being religiously repressed for her entire life."

I've spoken with a few people who have seen it, and they said it is absolutely hilarious. For only $12 it is completely worth it. If you love it so much that you have to see it a second time than you are in luck. She uses new material every month so if you can play the patience game you will be all set for a second round of laughs.

When:  Wednesday, November 28, 2012, 7 – 9pm

Where: The Living Room - 101 Atlantic Ave, Boston, MA 02110

Cost: $12.00

Can you add some (real) chocolate to that?

Posted by Katie Beth Clark on Mon, Nov 26, 2012

max brenner things to do in bostonIf you appreciate your alcohol, the classic movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, as well as a happy hour and/or fun night on the town in Back Bay, then Max Brenner is the place for you. Max Brenner is this bald guy (I don't know, that's just what the website said??) who once said "I don't invent anything in chocolate, it all exists in people's minds and hearts." So, i'll be honest, i'm not really following that so let's just get to the point. Max Brenner's White Russians and Chocolate Martinis are AMAZING! Made with REAL white chocolate, of which you don't find in other bars, your taste buds will be jumping with joy. They have many other great choices on their menu, including the dessert pizza that was aired on the Food Network. Also, the atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and perfect for a nice dinner or cocktails with the girls... or if you are simply a chocolate fanatic. Enjoy!

8th Annual Candyland Tournament at Faneuil Hall

Posted by Katie Beth Clark on Sun, Nov 25, 2012

boston candyland fundraiserThe 8th Annual Candyland Tournament is less than two weeks away so make sure to scratch it into your calendar. In Faneuil Hall at the upper rotunda of Quincy Hall, from 10AM-NOON on December 8th, the board game challenge will be at its' peak point! It's $20 per family, so what's holding you back?

"This event benefits Pitching in for Kids, Inc., a dynamic nonprofit organization dedicated to providing specifically earmarked grants designed to improve the lives of children across the New England region. "

And who doesn't love playing Candyland? In fact, my family is knowingly wicked good at board games and I can reassure you that if they lived in Boston we would destroy anyone who tested our skills! If you are facing the same problem I am, just get a group of friends together and head on over to Faneuil Hall!

Dance the night away at Hennessy's!

Posted by Katie Beth Clark on Wed, Nov 21, 2012

365 things to do in boston hennessy'sMy birthday was this past Saturday, and I took the advice of some friends and headed over to Hennesey's at 25 Union Street near Fanieul Hall. I am regretting not filming my experience (in order to really show you how much fun this place is), but to say the least, it was awesome!!

Word of advice: When you walk in, immediately go upstairs!

If you like good bands, large dance floors, and awesome songs, then this is the place for you. I started off the night in the back lounge upstairs (not so loud) sippin' on some drinks. Before I knew it, I was dancing to oldies, rap, and anything else you can think of. The environment there is very laid back but hip at the same time. Check out their calendar and make sure to plan a night at Hennessy's. I know for a fact that I will be heading back there soon!

Who knows, you may even see me there shakin' it like a..... salt shaker.

Donate a coat and get $50 off your new one, tomorrow at Barbour!

Posted by Katie Beth Clark on Tue, Nov 20, 2012

365 things to do in Boston Barbour donate a coatIt's cold outside, and we all know how it feels to leave our gloves or scarf at home by accident. But, not having a coat at all? Can you say "buuuurrrrrrrrrrr?" There are many people in Boston who go without the warmth that many of us are graced with every day. Due to the charities, non profit organizations, and local businesses across Boston, many people are able to get that coat... the one they would have never had.

Barbour on Newberry Street is partnering with One Warm Coat and have decided to once again (4th year) to host another annual coat drive. This year's coats will support the City Mission Society of Boston.

Grab one of your gently worn coats or jackets and drop it off at Barbour (134 Newbury Street) tomorrow from 10AM to 6PM and Barbour will give you a $50 discount if you want to buy a new jacket. This is for a great cause, and even though we give and expect nothing in return, this charitable moment in your life will actually has some cash rewards.

Start the holiday season off right and head over to The Barbour Store in Back Bay tomorrow!
