#363 Science on Screen Presents: Hitchcock's THE BIRDS

Posted by Tara Peterson on Mon, Apr 25, 2011

birdsRemember when scary movies we're actually fun to watch? I mean they still are...but there was something about the old school horror films that left a mark. Here's your chance to brush up on these classic films.

The Birds, will be playing at Coolidge Corner this evening!! Protect yourself from the rain, and those feathered friends at Coolidge Corner Theater.

Where:Coolidge Corner Theatre | 290 Harvard St

When:Today, April 25, 2011 7:30 pm
Price: $9.75 general admission/$7.75 students and Museum of Science members.  FREE for Coolidge Corner Theatre members.

About the movie if you have no clue: Alfred Hitchcock's 1963 classic, about frenzied feathered flocks that terrorize a quiet community, is one of the Master of Suspense's most anxiety-inducing films.  After chic socialite Melanie Daniels (Tippi Hedren) meets handsome lawyer Mitch Brenner (Rod Taylor) in a San Francisco bird shop, she pursues him to the small California coastal town of Bodega Bay, where he spends weekends with his possessive mother and younger sister.  Shortly after she arrives, a seagull swoops down and pecks her on the forehead.  Strange enough, but birdfeed compared to what follows.  Gradually, ordinary birds in the hundreds and then thousands alight on the town and start attacking everyone and everything with increasing aggression.
