3 Tools for Finding A Roommate in Boston

You found the apartment of your dreams… just not sure who you want to share it with. Or, you want to move in with someone that has it all set up and ready – but how do you find them? We get asked every day by our clients to help them with their roommate search. While we don’t play “match maker” personally, there are some great resources out there to help you in your search.

photo1. The new “Roommates” App

Limited to only a few markets (but Boston is one of them), this app has a great interface and offers a nice way to connect with people online before as you search. You can link it to your facebook, meaning no need to fill out profiles or answer tons of questions. You can sort by desired neighborhoods, interests, etc. Like to sleep in and do yoga? Find others near you that do the same thing!

2. Craigslist

Yep, you have maybe even used it before – it is probably one of the easiest and most popular ways to find a roommate – especially in a big city like Boston. You can search by only a few criteria like price point, neighborhood, etc. We recommend being selective and safe about the information you give out but tell them about yourself and what you like to do.

3. Roommate Connection

Hailed as New England’s oldest roommate matching provider, the company has been featured in the Globe, Herald, and more! You pay $95 (a bargain if you find the perfect roommate) and are able to use their services unlimited.
