3 “H’s” We Love About Boston

3 “H’s” We Love About Boston

120491957 (Mobile)Charlesgate Realty has been working with buyers, renters, sellers, and investors in the Boston area for 10 years now and we have grown to love so many things about it. In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, we thought we would give you 3 of our favorite aspects of our fine city. Every day, we are out with clients experiencing the sites, sounds, and smells (ewww. well the good ones!) that make Boston so loveable. What do you think?

1. History

Boston is home to so many “firsts” for our country as well as technology and medicine. Did you know:

  • In 1632, The first public anti-smoking law was established.
  • Boston Common was the first public park in America.
  • In 1765, The first chocolate factory Walter Baker Company was opened in Dorchester.
  • In 1876, The first telephone was demonstrated by Alexander Graham Bell in Boston.
  • and in 1903, The first modern World Series wa played in Major League Baseball.

2. Housing Market

Well, you know it is what we do. But the stats last year were pretty great based on the most recent numbers from the Greater Boston Association of Realtors.

(Did you see our blog post?) Well here are a few highlights:

  • Closed sales were up almost 6% from 2012.
  • Single family closed sales were up almost 10%!
  • Days on Market for condos were down 38.8% to 53 days
  • The media sales price for condos was up just under 7% to $405,000

Check out the stats for your neighborhood HERE.

3. Hamburgers

What can we say, we love a great burger? Boston is actually known as a “burger town” – with some nationally recognized hamburgers in and around the city. We bet you have had one at some point!

You don’t have to take our word for it, but you should check out the Boston Burger Blog – which is all about just that!

So who do they rank as having some of the best burgers in the city? JM Curley, Toro, Eastern Standard, Harvest, and The Gallows all stand out.

and one more (because it is Valentine’s Day) …

4. Humor

Here is a Boston joke for you!

Q: What are the only two seasons in Boston?

A: Winter and Construction.

These are just a few things we love about Boston this Valentine’s Day. What do you love?!
