BostON the Horizon Gives the Scoop @ One Canal

A CLOSE LOOK AT DEVELOPMENTS REDEFINING THE CITY’S SKYLINE

Screen Shot 2014-05-23 at 9.24.12 AMHaving recently broken ground,  One Canal will add 320 luxury rental apartments to the North End/Bulfinch Triangle neighborhoods. The 12-story community will be located across the street from the Haymarket MBTA station, offering convenient access to the orange and green lines. It will also feature a 159-space above ground parking garage and convenient access to the Central Artery tunnel across the street. There will also be a substantial retail presence with 21,000 square feet of space along Beverly Street, Valenti Way, and Market Street.

For many years, the green line, orange line, and central artery highway were elevated above the site of  One Canal. Following the Big Dig, several acres downtown and in the North End were freed up for redevelopment, allowing these neighborhoods to reconnect with the Waterfront and rest of the city. Positive effects of this neighborhood transformation include the opening of the popular Rose Kennedy Greenway and new retail establishments like CVS Pharmacy and Tavern in the Square. Additional planned amenities include a new Shaw’s Supermarket at North Station, the Boston Public Market opening in 2015, and a movie theater on Causeway Street.

A number of other residences have either opened or are breaking ground within a block of  One Canal, including Archstone Avenir, The Victor, Merano, and Lovejoy Wharf. Of course the most anticipated new addition over the next 10 years will be the redevelopment of the Government Center Garage across the street into additional mixed-use live, work, and play space.

One Canal’s 435,000 square feet of living space will feature studio, 1-bed, 1-bed plus, 2-bed, and 3-bed floor plans. Although leasing has not yet begun, it is anticipated apartments here will be priced similarly to nearby Archstone Avenir, which was developed by Trinity Financial. Of course,  Charlesgate Realty Group will keep you posted closer to the 2015 completion date when  One Canal apartments go on the market.
