4 Reasons to Love Boston.. Even in the Winter

2005_Boston89009210There are numerous reasons to love the city of Boston. Whether it’s to catch a game at the famous Fenway Park, to walk the freedom trail or just to shop along Newbury Street. It’s easy to think of things to do when the sun is shining and it’s ‘warm’ (I personally think Bostonians tend to have a warped sense of what warm really is since it’s cold 6 months out of the year here) So what do Bostonians do during the long winter months?! Here are a few ideas to keep you busy:

Ice Skating

Located in the heart of the Boston Common people of all ages are invited to come ice skate at the Boston Common Frog Pond. Skates are available for rent and skating is $5 for a day pass. Season passes are also available for you avid ski goers!

Go to a Show

The winter months are a great time to cozy up in a theatre and catch a show. You can check out the latest ‘must see’ at Loews AMC at the Boston Common. If you want to go a little less mainstream head to Coolidge Corner Theatre known for having the best independant films in the Boston area.

If you’re looking for something a little different see what the half price ticket stand in Copley Square have for the day. You can find great deals on shows ranging from the Blue Man Group to comical Sheer Madness. My personal favorite are the hilarious improv performances at Improv Asylum in the heart of Boston’s North End.

Bikram Yoga

Feeling a little more active than just catching the latest flick and still trying to work off those eggnogs from the holiday season? Warm up (literally) with Bikram Yoga  in the Back Bay or  Harvard Square. Hot yoga, Bikram is a compilation of 26 poses and breathing exercises typically taught in a 90 minute class. Not only known to be  a great workout but a great stress reliever as well.

Netflix

If it’s one of those days that the wind chill seems to be piercing through your soul stay in and binge watch Netflix (I’m personally watching the House of Cards series). I’m pretty sure this is what the Berenstain Bears did to keep sane during the winter months. So make some popcorn and snuggle up on the couch.
