With the approval of the project called Clippership Wharf recently by Boston Redevelopment Authority, almost 500 new homes are slated to come to East Boston. The neighborhood has not seen a ton of condo development over the past few years, especially compared to areas like Downtown Crossing with the new Millennium Tower project  and others. Still, East Boston has seen market growth over the past year, as reflected in the most recent market stats with a 15.2% increase in median sales price on all properties. Additionally, there were 50% more properties sold in June 2015 than June of 2014.

So what is planned @ Clippership Wharf?

Slated to be situated at 25 & 65 Lewis Street, the building is estimated to cover over 550,000 square feet. The unit mix will be residential condos as well as rental units. There will also be retail spaces throughout the complex.

Amenities are expected to include a fitness complex and canoe/kayak rental facility to take advantage of its location. There will also be a significant landscaped space with walkways, parks, etc. The developer indicates that almost 200,000 square feet of property will be landscaped or open space, showing a commitment to maintaining the beauty and “green” of the area.

What next?

This project was just board approved by the BRA, so details are still coming out about the project. We will keep you updated as we learn more about the unit mix, floor plans, pricing, etc.
