Boston Business Journal names CHARLESGATE a 2025 Best Places to Work company
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BOSTON (June 13, 2025) — The Boston Business Journal has named CHARLESGATE to its 2025 Best Places to Work — the BBJ’s exclusive ranking of the Massachusetts companies that have built outstanding work environments for their people.
This year, only 100 companies across Greater Boston earned recognition in the program, which honors businesses ranging in size from extra small to extra large. CHARLESGATE ranked #15 out of 25 companies in the mid-sized category, a meaningful achievement in the firm’s first year being nominated.
“This honor is a mirror reflecting what our team does every day — show up for each other, for our clients, and for our community,” said Michael DiMella, Managing Partner of CHARLESGATE. “When you put talented people first with a mission to redefine real estate, extraordinary results that move markets follow.”
"The companies that comprise this year’s Best Places to Work are among the most diverse in the decades we’ve been doing this program,” said Carolyn Jones, Market President and Publisher of the Boston Business Journal. “Their commitment to teamwork, employee engagement, flexibility and trust are the model to which the region’s businesses look for inspiration.”
CHARLESGATE’s vertically integrated real estate platform spans property management, brokerage, new development marketing, and investment. With a strong emphasis on culture, growth, and innovation, the company attributes its success to its people-first mindset.
“Property management is a people business first,” said Todd Mikelonis, President of Property Management. “By investing in our team’s growth and autonomy to own results, we turn buildings into thriving communities — and this award proves that putting people before spreadsheets pays off for residents and owners alike.”
“Recognition like this captures our brokerage’s real advantage,” said Paula Kowalczik, President of Brokerage. “Restless curiosity to challenge conventions, shared momentum, and a drive to raise the bar in real estate and win as a team.”
The businesses that met criteria for office location and size participated in employee-engagement surveys distributed by Business Journal partner Quantum Workplace. Employees were asked to rate their work environment, work-life balance, job satisfaction, advancement opportunities, management, compensation, and benefits.
Based on the results of those surveys, businesses were assigned a score out of 100 percent and ranked by Quantum. The top-rated companies are listed in five size categories: extra small (20 to 49 employees), small (50 to 99 employees), medium (100 to 249 employees), large (250 to 499 employees) and extra-large (500 or more).
The Best Places to Work celebration was held in-person on June 12th at The Westin Copley Place. The special publication will appear today in the June 13th weekly edition of the Boston Business Journal.
The Boston Business Journal is the region's premier business media organization, one of 44 markets owned by American City Business Journals.
